In the near future Norbiton Station will start major works to extend the platforms to enable 10 carriage trains to be used. This should be a good time to resolve the problem of “the gap”, however it seems that there are no plans to do this. One reason given is that freight trains need the extra width that the gap allows. If this is the case then it should still be possible to increase the height of the platform using ramps which would not extend into the horizontal gap but would make it a lot easier to step into the carriages. We urge you to add your details to this form so we can petition South West Rail to implement this as a matter of urgency and include it in the works they are about to undertake.
