{"id":2225,"date":"2017-09-25T14:55:52","date_gmt":"2017-09-25T13:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onenorbiton.org.uk\/?p=2225"},"modified":"2017-09-25T22:32:16","modified_gmt":"2017-09-25T21:32:16","slug":"our-community-call-in-petition-is-successful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onenorbiton.org.uk\/?p=2225","title":{"rendered":"Our Community Call-in Petition is Successful!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cambridge Road Estate\u2019s three Community Groups, One Norbiton, CREst and CRERA have just successfully  petitioned for  a call-in of what we consider to be an unfair item in RBK\u2019s Decant policy. This affects residents\u2019 rights of appeal when they are being temporarily rehoused to make way for the redevelopment of their estate. <\/p>\n<p>Mr. Gary Marson, Democratic Services Team Leader, wrote to Jill Preston saying:<br \/>\n\u201cI can confirm that the Call-in has been accepted as valid and that it is likely that it will be considered at the Council meeting on\u00a0Tuesday 17th October 2017, to be held at 7.30pm in the Council Chamber<\/p>\n<p>The Council\u2019s procedures relating to Community Call-ins are\u00a0attached below.\u00a0 The procedures indicate that a representative of the signatories to the call in has the opportunity to address the meeting on the subject for a maximum of five minutes.\u00a0 A further period of up to 10 minutes will be allowed for questions and answers.\u00a0 These time periods may be extended by resolution of the Council.\u00a0 The options available to the Council are to:<\/p>\n<p>i.\treaffirm the decision of the Committee OR<br \/>\nii.\tmodify the decision of the Committee OR<br \/>\niii.\toverturn the decision of the Committee OR<br \/>\niv.\trefer the decision back to the Committee for further consideration OR<br \/>\nv.\trefer the decision of the Committee to a Task and Finish Group for further consideration<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 300 signatures have already been added to the call-in since last Wednesday hopefully people will continue to add their names to this even though it has already been successful. Then we might achieve  \u201cWin-Win results\u201d for all the people of Kingston not just for RBK and any wealthy developer. <\/p>\n<p>If the present policy is not changed it will set an unfortunate bullying precedent throughout the Borough and jeopardise the joint support this important project needs.
